Rehabilitation

Lisa is a 66 year-old lady who is recovering from a heart attack. Together with Lisa's nurse, they design the following indicators for Lisa to see if she is improving:

• How often do I exercise in a week and for what duration?

• When had I last felt stressed at home or work?

• How often I smoke/drink?

• How often I meet people socially?

• Does my heart rate increase after a long walk?

• Is my palpitation in control after I have started taking the medicine?

At home Lisa continous her exercises, eats healthier and collects data while the cardiac nurse does some coaching from distance with the support of the indicator. During the follow up visits, they fine-tune both the treatment and the indicator for better health outcome.

This gives Lisa ownership of her treatment and motivates her to do the exercises, as she can see it makes a difference to her.

Erik needs personal assistance. He has three personal assistants that help his in daily activities. To avoid repetition of tasks, MyIndicators can help to establish collaboration between the three assistants as well as Erik by designing indicators like:

  1. Distribution of work between the three assistants: personal cleanliness and dressing up, feeding and medications, taking Erik out.
  2. Would the assistance like to do these tasks alternately?

To check for which tasks he needs assistance the most and is there any underlying reason like whether he is interested or disinterested in a particular activity, whether the muscles of his hands, legs or mouth or any other body part ache while doing an activity and so, he can’t do that activity, and so on. Both personal assistants and Erik can design indicators, like:

  1. Which activities does Erik like – personal cleanliness, eating, dressing up, going out?
  2. If Erik doesn’t like brushing, has he a dental problem? Is any of his teeth aching or is there any other problem?

  2. How many times a week and for what duration does Naomi exercise?

Depending upon the answers to these questions, her doctor can help Naomi reduce her risk of age-related disease.

His therapist is treating him with medications and counseling. Together with Jonas, the parents and the therapist design a personal indicator.
